Test Drive a Lotus

Profile

Stephen Crunkhorn Historic Racing maintains a number of historic Lotus racing cars from the Stephen Crunkhorn Collection. These cars are made available nationally and internationally for the discerning amateur driver to use within historic motor sport events. Additionally, using the platform that historic motorsport represents, Stephen Crunkhorn offers a range of professional marketing and management consulting packages, designed to add significant strategic value to partnering organisations. Key specialities include IT applications development, ICT infrastructure roll out and the recovery of failing business change programmes. Now exclusively concentrating on Stephen’s collection of Lotus cars they build on over 20 years experience racing both MG and Lotus vehicles.

Entry Level Historic Motor Sport

Two cars are currently available from the Stephen Crunkhorn Collection for hire or test. We are able to offer the use of a 1969 Lotus 61 for selected rounds of the UK Historic Sports Car Club Formula Ford Championship.

This entry level Lotus Formula Ford represents an excellent way for a Lotus enthusiast to race a genuine Lotus single seater racing car at the weekends on a modest budget.

A second Lotus Formula Ford, the more desirable Lotus 69, is also available. The 69 represents a couple of years development over the 61 and features a much stiffer chassis. While remaining affordable, it also provides the discerning driver with the opportunity to fight for outright race wins.

Historic Formula 5000 – a project is underway at Stephen Crunkhorn Historic Racing involving the use of a Lotus 70 Formula 5000 car. A search is underway for an enthusiastic and competent historic racer who could join the team. While this drive is part sponsored the driver would be expected to show his or her commitment to the on-going project with a financial contribution to the racing costs. The exciting opportunity also represents a stepping stone to a potentially part sponsored drive in Historic Formula 1.

Formula 2 – a further project is underway with the aim of restoring a Lotus Formula 2 car and providing it on a very limited basis to suitably qualified drivers in selected UK and European historic events.

Driver Management
Not limited to the Lotus Marque of Historic Motor Sport, we also provide driver management services. On a confidential basis we can assist with:

• Career Management
Increasing performance and competitiveness
• Fitness
• Finding and negotiating funding and sponsorship, and helping deliver value to commercial partners.

Commercial Partners

We are proud to continue our long standing association with Mark Dunham Race Engineering. Stephen Crunkhorn Historic Racing exclusively used MDRE to prepare its Lotus 61 and Lotus 69 Racing Cars.

Kipling Projects are a principle sponsor of the Lotus 61. Stephen Crunkhorn is delighted that Managing Director Gayle Kipling chose his racing operation to promote her project management consulting business and specifically provide exposure to her creation of subject matter expert groups focusing on the exploitation of cloud technology. Stephen and Gayle have enjoyed a long association in the delivery of a number of public sector projects.

Paul Greenslade’s Light and Sound company based in South London represent the third of the 2011 commercial partners. Light and Sound used the Lotus 61 as a backdrop to promote their wholesale and retail lighting business alongside their impressive capabilities in home cinema installation.

News in Brief

Stephen Crunkhorn Historic Racing have two new projects under development. The first aims to introduce a Lotus 70 Formula F5000 to the collection making it available to Lotus enthusiasts in New Zealand.
